Healthy Weight Loss Diets for Children

Putting your child on a diet is something many of us have considered, however there are some factors to bear in mind before doing this - healthy weight loss diets for children should be thought about first.

You should never tell your child that they are overweight, as this will only upset them and, in the worst case, may end up with a disorder. This is something you should be very careful of doing. Instead there are ways to tackle the situation without trying to make your child aware that you are putting them on a diet due to their weight.

One great way to do this is to make out that you are going on a diet, and would like some help from them to lose a few pounds - ask them for their help to get them active, and go swimming, walking or cycling with them to get them active. You can also use this method when changing the foods that they eat. If you make them aware that some foods are off the menu for a while because you are trying to lose a few pounds then it will be less of an issue for them.

You can reward them if they have good eating habits with a treat once in a while, but be careful not to overdo it. You shouldnt let them have takeaway food more than once a week. Also, before putting them on a diet try to find out what healthy food they like, such as which fruits and vegetables, and try to prepare their meals around them, this is the best type of healthy weight loss diets for kids and even better is it has the love and attention from you.

Even better, why not get your child to help you prepare meals (with full supervision of course)?
